Опубликовано: 19.01.2026 в 12:30

At Sumy State University, after completing 1.5 years of study in the F3 “Computer Science” specialty, second-year students face an important stage — choosing the educational program under which they will continue their higher education.

An online meeting was held with second-year students of the F3 “Computer Science” specialty (in part-time and distance learning modes) on January 12, 2026. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of Information Technologies and the Department of Computer Science, both of which provide training within this specialty. The main goal of the event was to present the educational programs within the F3 “Computer Science” specialty as educational trajectories from which students must choose for their further studies.

The educational program “Digital Design Technologies” (“Information Design Technologies”) (OP), implemented at the Department of Information Technologies, was presented by the head of the department, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Nenya A.V. and the guarantor of the educational program, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Vashchenko S.M.

As part of the presentation, the program guarantor outlined the educational program’s strategic direction and explained its main focus. Students were familiarized with the learning trajectory for the coming years and the technology stack that ensures the formation of basic competencies and practical skills according to the educational program. It was also noted that students enrolled in the educational program have the opportunity to complete, in parallel with the main cycle of study, one of the certificate programs (“Digital Design and Graphics” or “Full-Stack Web Application Development”) and obtain the corresponding microqualification, which confirms the acquisition of highly specialized professional competencies.

Special attention during the meeting was paid to examples of qualification projects, including the development of web and mobile applications, information systems, game projects, solutions in the fields of data analysis and artificial intelligence, as well as database and user interface design. It was emphasized that the educational program provides broad employment opportunities, a strong practical orientation, cooperation with employers, and the formation of competitive professional competencies.

Choosing an educational program is the first step toward the future specialization of our graduates. This meeting provided an opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about the educational programin order to make an informed choice in accordance with their own professional interests and career plans.

We wish the students success in making a well-considered decision!

Expand Your Horizons: Two New Certificate Programs at the Department og Information Technologies

Опубликовано: 15.01.2026 в 15:28

The landscape of the IT industry is evolving, and employers are increasingly looking for specialists who possess not just a general degree, but specific, practical skill sets. Responding to this demand, the Department of Information Technologies at SSU is excited to announce the launch of two new certificate programs for the 2026–2027 academic year.

These programs offer a unique opportunity for students majoring in “Information Technologies of Design” (“Digital Technologies of Design”) to gain additional professional qualifications alongside their main studies. Rather than simply taking random elective courses, students can now choose a structured path that leads to a recognized micro-qualification, confirmed by a SSU certificate upon graduation.

The Certificate Program “Digital Design and Graphics” offers a deep dive into creating visual content for the modern digital environment. Students will master the creation and editing of graphical and 3D content, explore animation tools, and learn how to develop multimedia solutions for IT companies.

The curriculum is designed to be comprehensive, covering “Fundamentals of Design and Graphics,” “Computer Design Technologies,” and “Digital Processing and Editing Technologies.” Crucially, the program also embraces the future with a course on “Artificial Intelligence in Graphics”. Successful completion grants the micro-qualification of “Digital Designer”.

The Certificate Program “Full-Stack Development” offers a rigorous pathway to becoming a versatile engineer. The core philosophy here is versatility: preparing equally comfortable specialists building interactive user interfaces (frontend) and managing complex server-side logic (backend).

Students will gain hands-on experience with the most relevant technologies, including courses on “Frontend Development of SPA Web Applications,” “Backend Development with Node.js and Express.js,” and “Full-stack Web Development on Python and Django”. This comprehensive training ensures graduates are ready to build scalable, functional systems from the ground up, earning the micro-qualification of “Full-stack Web Application Developer”.

The Department of Information Technologies highly recommends taking advantage of this chance to become a multi-skilled professional before you even leave the university walls. New Certificate Programs are a strategic investment in your future career.

Final Presentations of Master’s Research in Computer Science

The end of December is always a special time at the university, marked not just by the approaching holidays but by the culmination of years of hard work. From December 22 to 24, 2025, the Department of Information Technologies held the final defense of qualification works for students of the “Information Technologies of Design” educational program (Computer Science specialty).

For three days, the virtual halls of our Zoom conference were filled with discussions on the future of technology. The Examination Commission No. 21 faced the challenging but rewarding task of evaluating 22 master’s theses.

One of the strengths of our program is the close collaboration between academic theory and industry practice. The commission was chaired by Mykhailo Syrotenko, Head of the Automated Production Control Systems Department at “Smart Industry Group” LLC. He was joined by Anna Nenia, Head of the IT Department, and Bohdan Antypenko, Director of “Optimized Operations” LLC, as well as Ivan Mikheiev, Talent Development Manager at “EPAM Systems.”

Working alongside these industry experts were our dedicated faculty members: Program Guarantor Yuliia Parfenenko, Professors Yevhenii Lavrov, Serhii Tymchuk, and Vira Shendryk, as well as Associate Professors Svitlana Vashchenko, Iryna Baranova, and Nataliia Fedotova. This diverse panel ensured that every project was viewed from both a scientific perspective and a practical business standpoint.

The topics presented this year reflected the most dynamic sectors of modern computer science. We saw a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence, with students presenting solutions for personalized learning, advanced text analysis, and image processing.

However, the innovation didn’t stop at AI. The defenses covered a broad spectrum of research, from data storage models in web-based systems to the procedural generation of content for the gaming industry. Students demonstrated practical tools for automating processes in medicine, agriculture, e-commerce, and education. It was inspiring to see that these works were not just theoretical exercises; they were interdisciplinary projects designed to solve real-world problems.

Based on the results of the defense, the commission unanimously decided to award the professional qualification of Master of Computer Science to our graduates.

The Department of Information Technologies extends its sincere gratitude to our partners from IT companies for their active participation, insightful reviews, and guidance.
