The Department of Information Technologies Hosted an Open Lecture on Cross-Platform Mobile Application Development
On May 22, 2026, second- and third-year students of the 122 Computer Science program, enrolled in the Information Technologies of Design educational program, attended an open lecture entitled “How Kotlin and Compose Multiplatform Work Together with iOS.”
The lecture was delivered by Serhii Pohotovka, Android Developer at Custom PC Software, who shared his practical experience in developing modern mobile and cross-platform applications.
During the lecture, students explored current approaches to cross-platform application development using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform. Special attention was given to the interaction between Kotlin and Swift, code sharing across Android and iOS platforms, and user interface integration in multiplatform projects.
A separate part of the lecture focused on asynchronous programming, testing strategies for cross-platform applications, and tools that enable efficient interoperability between the Android and Apple ecosystems. Students also learned about the use of KSP and Skiko technologies for generating Swift bindings and integrating components across different platforms.
The audience showed particular interest in the practical examples from real-world projects presented by the speaker. These examples demonstrated the advantages of the multiplatform approach, including reduced development time, more efficient use of team resources, and improved software quality.
Events like this help students deepen their professional knowledge, become familiar with current trends in mobile software development, and strengthen collaboration between the academic community and the IT industry.
